Archives for the month of: June, 2012

My name is Chaleesa Abrazado and I think a bodybuilding cake topper would be a great cake topper for my wedding. My fiance loves the gym and lifting weights. He’s always exercising. I myself love to exercise to but not as much as him. So I was wondering, if my cake topper idea wins, to have my fiance in a tuxedo but the tuxedo looking like a body building suit, holding a barbell behind his head in a squatting position while I’m in a wedding dress sitting on top the barbell.

Our wedding is not till January 11, 2014 but I love the idea of a custom wedding cake topper. We have chosen the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki to have our wedding but we are not quite set on a theme for our wedding yet although I think our wedding will be a “Do it Yourself” kind of wedding where all my centerpieces, favors and invites will be hand made. I am the crafty type of bride.

I love this custom cake topper idea because for most of our relationship, which is currently going on eight years, my fiancé was always doing sports or keeping active. In high school he played soccer. I was thinking of a soccer cake topper but I thought it was to common. Then I came across the body building cake topper and I thought that was an excellent idea. He loves to go gym. He goes six days a week and I like to go gym and I go at least five days a week and I also go boot camp. Our friends refer to us as the buff and beast couple because we lift together and we try to always stay as fit as possible. He also wants to try bodybuilding competition, which is also how the cake topper idea came to be. We basically bond and have a lot of our one and one times over exercising and lifting. Also if my idea wins, I am going to glass box my cake topper and keep it forever in remembrance of our wedding and cherish it for how much it means to me and the reasons behind it.

Thank you LaShanda and Tim for your idea on a movie theater themed custom wedding cake topper.

Since the day that Tim and I got engaged, May 29, 2012, I have thought about what our wedding day would look like. As we get closer to our chosen date, June 29, 2013, the vision for that day becomes clearer. Tim and I will marry at the Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville, MD. As a child, I dreamt of getting married in a castle and this historic mansion is the next best thing.

The ceremony will be a formal affair with 9 bridesmaids and 9 groomsmen. I plan to wear a white gown with a sweetheart neckline, a dropped waist and a full skirt. My fiancé will wear a tuxedo with a tie and vest showcasing our wedding colors, light yellow and platinum.

A string quartet will serenade our guests as they arrive and “Here Comes the Bride” will play as my father walks me down the aisle. In time, Tim and I will recite our vows to one another and my pastor will pronounce us “man and wife.”

While the wedding party takes pictures, our guests will enjoy a cocktail hour, complete with a full bar and a live jazz band. After which, they will be escorted to the reception, where they will be treated to a sit-down dinner, more live music and plenty of line dancing. When it is time to cut the cake, our guests will behold the most wonderful and younique cake topper depicting Tim and me engaged in one of our favorite pastimes, going to the movies.

I began attending advance movie screenings the year before I met Tim. At that time, I did not have a regular movie buddy and I often found myself going alone. While being a “single rider” has its advantages when finding good seats in a crowded theater, I longed for a companion who shared my love of movies. Then, through a friend of a friend, I met Tim and, for the past two years, he has been that companion and much much more. He is truly my best friend and the love of my life. When I am with him, I feel like I am in a movie, not just watching one.

Last year, we committed to having a weekly date night. When a week is particularly hectic or stressful, we know that our “Tuesday night movie night” is right around the corner. The time we spend together is so much more than just watching a movie– it is holding hands or cuddling in the theater, it is sharing a laugh (or a cry), it is knowing that the person you love most in the world is only an armrest away. Tim and I have promised to keep this tradition going even after we get married and start a family; the cake topper will serve as constant reminder of that promise.

The cake topper would depict what “Tuesday night movie night” would look like if we were to go to the movies after the reception. Tim and I would be sitting in theater movie seats. Tim would be on my right-hand side and his left arm would be draped over my shoulder. Tim’s right hand would be holding a bag of popcorn. Tim would be wearing his tuxedo with the dress shirt open to show a Washington Redskins t-shirt. He would also be wearing a Washington Redskins hat. I would be wearing my wedding gown and my head would be resting on his shoulder. I would have a box of goobers, my favorite candy, on my lap. My wedding bouquet would be in the cup holder on the armrest.

Thank you to Lizelle and Nihar for their entry to win custom wedding cake topper figurines. Good luck!

Wedding Cake Topper with Trees

Lizelle and Nihar with their Pup

Nihar and I met by chance on May 20, 2009. We were then just living our single lives in Philadelphia, each of us a little burned from our previous relationships. My friend took me to a party in the lobby of The Packard Building on Broad Street. Nihar’s friend and he decided to take a break from studying for their medical exams and went down to the lobby for a drink. Nihar spotted me and tried to start a conversation, but I wasn’t intending on meeting anyone. He was very persistent! (And now I can admit- charming:) I finally gave him my number and agreed to go out to one dinner with him, if only to get him to leave me alone. During our first date, I realized he was very special and we did end up kissing. Someone once said you should get to know a person before you kiss him/her. Yet you can know so much from one kiss. I realized that he was my guy. It really was just a wonderful, happy feeling that I knew he was the one for me. Just meeting Nihar was a surprise.

Nihar and I dated for a year. Then, we went out with a bunch of friends for New Year’s 2010. It was our usual fun night of dancing, but then, right after the midnight countdown, he got down on one knee. I had no idea he was even going to propose! What an even more wonderful surprise! We’ve since been engaged, waiting for the right time to have the wedding.

I am Filipino Catholic and Nihar, is Indian Hindu, so we will be having two wedding ceremonies on July 27, 2013. The Catholic ceremony will take place at Holy Cross Church in Dover, DE in the morning. Then the Hindu ceremony, as well as the reception, will take place at Dover Downs Casino. The attached (and uploaded to Facebook) picture is of Nihar, our Chinese Shar Pei, Mia and me. I would love a cake topper to mimic this scene because it represents us. We are very casual, fun, and light-hearted, and my sister just happened to take a picture of us being our silly selves hiding behind the trees. I would like more of our bodies shown, and both of us in our wedding attire, but definitely peeking out from the trees. The playfulness in nature plays tribute to Bollywood films, which are prominent in Nihar’s Indian culture.

If this were our wedding cake topper, it would not only be a big hit with our families, but it would also be a little portrait that we could cherish forever.
